50-kHz ultrasonic vocalization subtypes emitted by female rats anticipating a same-sex social partner

The experiment tested 32 female rats as they anticipated access to social interaction with a companion female rat. USV recordings were taken during the 2-min pre-access period before the females were allowed to interact. The USV recordings were analyzed for the test days 1, 2, 5, 6, 12 and 18.In the dataset, 22-kHz calls (i.e., 20 – 25 kHz) were treated as a single type, and 50-kHz calls (i.e., 25 – 95 kHz) were categorized according to our previously-published 14-subtype scheme.
