Comparative study of non-structural carbohydrate (NSC) in plant tissues

The study was conducted in early 2013. The motivation for this study was to highlight that unanswered questions about the role of non-structural carbohydrate (NSC) in response to environmental stresses might be related to the lack of consistency in assessing NSC. The raw data collected were used in the following published material: Quentin et al. (2014) New Phytologist - In prep.\nLineage: Data represent the results produced by each of the 29 laboratories involved in the study. The data were obtained form this collaborative work. Each lab used their own protocol to extract and quantify the soluble sugars and starch concentration of five "standard" samples: Eucalyptus globulus leaves (EGL), E. globulus roots (EGR), E. globulus stem (EGS), Pinus edulis needles (PEN) and Prunus persica leaves (PPL). Data were analysed according to a grouping of methods of extraction and quantification. The grouping of the method for the statistical analytical were done according to the main "replicable" feature within the methods available.
