THE ROLE OF CRITICAL THINKING IN IMPROVING ARGUMENTATIVE WRITING SKILLS OF EFL STUDENTS

This article examines the role of critical thinking in improving the argumentative writing skills of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) students. The study explores the relationship between critical thinking abilities and effective argument construction in academic writing. Through a review of relevant literature and analysis of existing research findings, the article highlights how critical thinking contributes to idea generation, evidence evaluation, logical reasoning, and the development of persuasive arguments. The findings indicate that students who possess stronger critical thinking skills produce more coherent, well-structured, and convincing argumentative essays. Furthermore, the study emphasizes the importance of integrating critical thinking activities into EFL writing instruction to enhance learners’ academic performance and communicative competence. The article concludes that critical thinking is an essential component of successful argumentative writing and should be systematically incorporated into language education programs.
