A study of the English development needs and problems of support staff at a Thai university in Nakhon Pathom Province

The purpose of this study was to study needs and problems in English development of support staff at a Thai University in Nakhon Pathom Province. The objectives of this study were to find out the support staff’s needs and problems of using English language in the workplace. The participants of this research were 31 support staff who work in an international college. The research instrument in this study was a questionnaire asking about general background information, needs and problems in English skills in the workplace, and the wants in English development skills. The data were analyzed by using the Microsoft Excel program for calculating frequency, percentages, means, and standard deviation (SD). The findings of this research revealed that support staff in the university had overall moderate needs for English development in listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills and the main English problems of support staff in university were listening and speaking skills.
