Mitogenomic phylogenies have revealed well supported relationships for many groups of eukaryotes, including Lepidoptera. However, these data is restricted to 7 of 43 known superfamilies, and it remains challenging to recover large numbers of mitogenomes at once. Therefore, we present a procedure to obtain a large number of mitogenomes via the Roche 454 GS junior system.
