Site Images and GIS Data from an Archaeological Evaluation at 28-34 Risbygate Street, Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk, March 2021

This collection consists of site images and GIS data from an archaeological evaluation at 28-34 Risbygate, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. Works were completed by Cotswold Archaeology in March 2021 ahead of proposed development. The trenches were excavated through a thick concrete slab and associated sub-base which sealed a natural chalk subsoil, indicating that the site had been heavily truncated. One archaeological feature survived in Trench 1 in the south-west corner of the site. This was a large, deep medieval pit likely to represent an extraction pit.
