Local Economic Freedom and Creative Destruction in America

This dataset was used in my paper, "Local Economic Freedom and Creative Destruction in America," which is forthcoming in Small Business Economics and is available at https://rdcu.be/bHPLr. The dataset includes quinquennial data for 299 U.S. Metropolitan Statistical Areas over the period 1972-2012. The dataset includes MSA-level variables such as economic freedom, numerous measures of firm/job dynamism, and a variety of economic and demographic characteristics.
