SCV tracking on isopycnal 27.8, GIGATL1 simulation, Mid-Atlantic ridge, South Atlantic
收藏资源简介:
This dataset contains the output of the vortex detection and tracking algorithm pyeddytracker (see https://github.com/AntSimi/py-eddy-tracker and https://doi.org/10.1175/JTECH-D-14-00019.1) performed in the GIGATL1 (see https://github.com/Mesharou/GIGATL) simulation in a period of 536 days, the detection and tracking were performed on the isopycnal 27.8 surface. The data consists in time-dependent vortex geometrical and dynamical properties stored in NetCDF format. The variables describe the spatial position, size, characteristics, and contour geometry of detected structures tracked through time. The dataset includes: eddy centroid longitude and latitude and associated model grid coordinates, effective and speed radii, average azimuthal velocity, Coriolis parameter, Rossby number, Contour coordinates defining eddy boundaries (effective and speed contour), the relative vorticity amplitude, in the radial coordinate. The data are organized along three dimensions: nobs: individual vortex track, time: temporal evolution, contour: contour points describing eddy shapes, r, normalized radial coordinate Missing values are represented using NaN during time periods in which a vortex is not identified or does not exist. AC_qp_50.nc and C_qp_50.nc contain the tracking outputs for anticyclonic and cyclonic vortices, respectively, detected using a minimum potential vorticity anomaly threshold of 50%.
