Brazilian version of the SPORTS SUPPLEMENTS BELIEF SCALE (SSBS)

Those are the data collected from Brazilian athletes to run the confirmatory factor analysis for SSBS.The sample was recruited non-probabilistically, with selection by judgment and snowball sampling, and consisted of 250 athletes, with a mean age of 28.32 ± 7.78 years. Of the total, 68.67% were male; 28.92% were professionals and 71.08% regularly used at least one dietary supplement at the time of data collection. Athletes from various sports were included in the sample, such as track and field, indoor and beach volleyball, military and modern pentathlon, judo, fencing, triathlon, orienteering and soccer, the first two being the most recurrent. Among those who used supplements, 41.80% did so exclusively on the recommendation of a nutritionist, 0.43% on the recommendation of a nutritionist, 24.14% through a combination of professional sources (nutritionist, nutritionist, doctors of other specialties, personal trainer, coach), 12.50% on the recommendation of friends or family, 8.26% on the recommendation of a coach and the rest through other sources.
