The samples were collected from the two Glaciers Frey Peak and Rathong Glacier of West Sikkim, India. The Sikkim Himalaya is one of the few natural habitats of the world where a wide range of natural environments such as glaciers are abundant. The sampling site of the two Glaciers was chosen as they are present in close vicinity and are snow-covered. Samples from each Glacier were collected in triplicates. The sampling was done using an ice corer (Portable ice core drilling machine KOVACS Enterprise with 1.5m core barrel (height) and 15cm in diameter and approximately 5ft core samples were collected aseptically.
