This project analyzed environmental DNA extracted from feces of wild Japanese macaques in Yakushima island (Macaca fuscata yakui) using high-throughput sequencing to reveal their food item repertoire and commensal microbiome. This is performed as part of the Yakushima Field and Genome Science Courses of Kyoto University.
