Example data for scanarea: projected plant area estimation from scanned plant material

Example data and reference outputs for the R package scanarea, which provides reproducible batch estimation of projected plant area from scanned images. The workflow was developed in the context of foliar sampling at Czech ICOS ecosystem stations and provides a reproducible approach for determining projected leaf or needle area for use in leaf mass per area (LMA) calculations. It is intended to support workflows associated with the ICOS Ecosystem Instructions for Foliar Samples Collection and LMA Ratio Determination (DOI: 10.18160/k7qg-hg2a). The archive contains two examples based on needle scans: original raw scans and manually cleaned variants. For each example, the archive provides input images, processing settings, an R script reproducing the analysis, scan-level reference outputs, processing logs, and diagnostic figures. The reference outputs were generated with scanarea version 0.1.0. The work was carried out in the context of the CzeCOS research infrastructure, which represents the Czech national component of ICOS ERIC. The example workflow and scanarea package were developed independently; ICOS Ecosystem Thematic Centre (ETC) was not involved in their development, validation, or endorsement. scanarea source code and documentation are available from GitHub: https://github.com/lsigut/scanarea.
