Correlation study of BDNF/TrkB/CREB,violence,and cognitive function in first-episode drugnaive schizophrenia patients

This study primarily explores the correlation between BDNF/TrkB/CREB and violence as well as cognitive function in first-episode drug-naive schizophrenia patients.First-episode drug-naive schizophrenia patients and healthy controls were recruited. General demographic data of each group were collected. Cognitive function was assessed using the Wechsler scales and the Wisconsin Card Sorting Test (WCST), while violent risk was evaluated via the Historical, Clinical, Risk Management-20 (HCR-20) scale. The Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS) was used to assess symptoms in schizophrenia patients.Quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) and Western blot (WB) experiments were performed to evaluate the mRNA and protein expression levels of BDNF, TrkB, and CREB in first-episode drug-naive schizophrenia patients and healthy controls.This study was approved by the Institutional Review Board of the Mental Health Center Affiliated to Kunming Medical University. All procedures complied with local laws, regulations, and institutional requirements. Participants provided written informed consent to participate in the study.
