The Gut Microbiome Structure of Myzus persicae (Sulz.) is Shaped by Different Solanaceae Plant Diets

Myzus persicae (Sulz.), which is an important pest in agriculture, has a board host range. The aphid causes serious damage to more than one hundred plant species, which is connected with serious economic losses. The gut microbiota is known to have a profound impact on the growth, development, and environmental adaptation of insects. However, little is known about factors that affect and shape the microbiota of aphids. We analyzed the responses of the aphid's gut microbiome to different Solanaceae plant diets and compared it to a reference group reared on cabbage (Brassica rapa L. var. pekinensis).
