Incorporation of radiolabeled dimethylsulfoniopropionate (35S-DMSP) by size-fractionated microbial plankton from the western Mediterranean Sea, during the SUMMIT-Med cruise (June 2021)

Incorporation (as % of added radiatracer) of 35S-DMSP by microbial plankton during the SUMMIT-Med cruise (June 2021). Samples from either 4 or 30 m depth were spiked with tjhe rsdiotracer and incubated for 6 hours at in situ temperature and under mimicked in situ light (day and night). Then they were filtered through 0.2 um and 1.2 um pore-size filters, precipitated with cold trichloroacetic acid to retain macromolecules, and the retained radiactivity was measured. Calculations were made to calculate incorporation into >1.2 um and 0.2-1.2 um particles.
