NRS-20833 | Admissions Registers [Rozelle Hospital]

This series comprises handwritten admission registers which record details of patients attending Rozelle Hospital, whether or not they were admitted. Discharge dates have also been annotated in some of the registers.The volumes for 1978-1980 are standard, printed 'Register of Admissions and Discharges' with many of the printed columns amended by hand to read: m/f [male/female]; name; date of birth; date of admission; total [total number of admissions]; area - L/C/SS/OA/NF; no. [number]; previous admission [yes/no]; born [country/state]; residential suburb; marital status - M/S/SEP/D/W/DF/unknown [married/single/separated/divorced/widowed/defacto/unknown]; ward; class. on admission [classification on admission]; re-class [reclassification]; date of discharge; doctor; and remarks [usually where the patient was sent when discharged].The registers from 1981 are hand-ruled books with the date written across the top of the page and the columns headed: time, name, where seen, sex, age, adm. class. [admission classification such as not admitted, informal, 12-1-A, 21-1-A, CT], number [patient registration number], area [suburb, c. of birth [country of birth] ref by [referred by], pres. class. [present classification], ref to [referred to], S/B M.O. [seen by medical officer]. Not all patients attending the hospital were admitted. 'Where seen' was sometimes recorded as AO [Admissions Office] and the 'Admission Classification' was given as 'not admitted'. These registers would therefore appear to cover both inpatients and outpatients.The registers from 1981 are ruled, hard or soft covered books of various sizes with 'Admission Register' and the start date/commenced, end date/finished and sometimes a volume number, written on the front cover.The register entries are chronological by date of admission.
