## **Abstract** \n\nThe dataset was derived by the Bioregional Assessment Programme. This dataset was derived from multiple datasets. You can find a link to the parent datasets in the Lineage Field in this metadata statement. The History Field in this metadata statement describes how this dataset was derived.\n\n\n\nThis dataset contains cartographic masks from the Geoscience Australia Topographic 250K series 3 data (GUID: a0650f18-518a-4b99-a553-44f82f28bb5f).\n\n\n\nhttp://www.ga.gov.au/metadata-gateway/metadata/record/gcat_a05f7892-ecbd-7506-e044-00144fdd4fa6/GEODATA+TOPO+250K+Series+3+%28Packaged+-+Shape+file+format%29\n\n## **Purpose** \n\nThis mask has been developed to readily differentiate onshore and offshore areas thus allowing clear representation of data in the map by masking the offshore areas.\n\nThese masks can be used in cartographic products to tidy overlapping layers or help display labels.\n\n## **Dataset History** \n\nThe Mainlands and Islands layers from the Geoscience Australia Topographic 250K series 3 data (https://data.bioregionalassessments.gov.au/datastore/dataset/a0650f18-518a-4b99-a553-44f82f28bb5f) were clipped from an arbitrary rectangular extent of Australia with the following bounding coordinates:\n\n\n\nNorth: -4.40394403624746\n\nWest: 106.974907459776\n\nEast: 162.47047360971\n\nSouth: -50.4276192467119\n\n\n\nThe mask area shows the non-land surface of Australia.\n\n## **Dataset Citation** \n\nBioregional Assessment Programme (2014) Geoscience Australia 250K Topographic Cartographic Masks.
