叶面积指数(leaf area index, LAI)通常被定义为植被叶、茎、花、果等组分的总面积与 土地面积之比,是生态系统碳循环、水文和气候等模型中不可或缺的重要组成参数,已被广泛应用于森林监测、植被评价和农作物产量预估等。LAI可较好反映森林生长状况,是评价森林健康的良好指标,其不仅影响森林的碳吸收,而且能够通过改变感热与潜热通量比例直接影响区域乃至全球气候。中国科学院西双版纳热带生态系统研究站(简称版纳站)作为中国生态系统研究网络(CERN)和国家野外科学观测研究站网络(CRERN)成员,严格按照《陆地生态系统生物观测指标与规范》进行监测,获得的数据按照《陆地生态系统生物观测数据质量保证与质量控制》进行严格数据控制。本数据集整合版纳站5个长期监测样地2010-2020年森林植物群落乔、灌、草各层叶面积指数数据,以期为研究热带森林生态系统及碳循环提供科学依据。
Leaf Area Index (LAI) is generally defined as the ratio of the total area of vegetation components including leaves, stems, flowers, fruits and other parts to the land area. It is an indispensable core parameter in models such as ecosystem carbon cycle, hydrology and climate, and has been widely applied in forest monitoring, vegetation assessment, crop yield prediction and other fields. LAI can effectively reflect forest growth status and serves as an excellent indicator for evaluating forest health. It not only affects forest carbon sequestration, but also directly impacts regional and even global climate by altering the ratio of sensible and latent heat fluxes.
Xishuangbanna Tropical Ecosystem Research Station of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (abbreviated as Banna Station), as a member of the Chinese Ecosystem Research Network (CERN) and the National Field Scientific Observation and Research Station Network (CRERN), carries out monitoring strictly in accordance with *Indicators and Specifications for Biological Observation of Terrestrial Ecosystems*, and the collected data undergoes rigorous quality control per *Quality Assurance and Quality Control for Biological Observation Data of Terrestrial Ecosystems*.
This dataset integrates leaf area index data of arbor, shrub and herb layers in forest plant communities from 5 long-term monitoring plots at Banna Station during 2010–2020, aiming to provide scientific basis for research on tropical forest ecosystems and carbon cycles.
