<p>3D scan of a man that personifies quartz as a powerful mountain spirit rising directly from a cluster of sharp-edged crystal druses. The jagged crown and the hard, angular folds of his robe mimic the geometric structure of rock crystal. He rests his head on his hand, leaning on the quartz crystal and seems to be pondering the nature of existence. In the tradition of romantic mythical figures such as Rübezahl, the bearded figure appears as an archaic guardian, inextricably linked to the mineral treasures of the underworld.</p><p>The figure was created by Rudolf Weyr (1847-1914) and is part of the decorative program in Hall IV of the Natural History Museum Vienna.</p>
