EUNIS-Based Habitat Classification of the Floodplain Ecosystems of Khortytsia Island (Ukraine)

This dataset contains the results of an EUNIS-based habitat classification of the floodplain part of Khortytsia Island, Ukraine. It includes the assignment of vegetation plots to EUNIS habitat types based on floristic composition, TWINSPAN classification, diagnostic species, fidelity values (φ-coefficient), and indicator analysis. The dataset was developed from field surveys conducted in 2024–2025 in the floodplain ecosystems of Khortytsia Island, which underwent substantial ecological restructuring after the destruction of the Kakhovka Reservoir in 2023. The published material provides a synoptic table of diagnostic species for ten operational floristic groups and documents the interpretation of these groups in terms of EUNIS habitat types. Habitat assignment was based primarily on species composition and supported, where necessary, by geomorphological position and terrain characteristics. The dataset is intended for use in vegetation science, habitat mapping, floodplain ecology, and post-disaster ecosystem assessment.
