OPM (Orientations of Proteins in Membranes) is a specialized structural database focused on membrane proteins. Developed by the Lomize Research Group at the College of Pharmacy, University of Michigan, this database primarily provides spatial orientation data of membrane proteins within lipid bilayers. OPM curates all unique experimentally determined structures of transmembrane proteins, as well as a subset of peripheral membrane proteins and membrane-active peptides. It determines the in-membrane localization of these proteins by calculating the transfer free energy of proteins from aqueous environments to the lipid bilayer. This database was officially published in the journal *Nucleic Acids Research* in 2012, and was funded by the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF).
