Whole-genome resequencing of rhizospheric fungus Metarhizium marquandii isolated from a chlor-alkali site

This study focuses on the whole genome sequencing of the rhizospheric fungus Metarhizium marquandii strain UFC_022, which was isolated from a mercury enriched site in Saint Symphorien sur Saone, Cote d Or, France, a location that served as a sediment storage facility for a chlor alkali plant from the 1950s until 2003. The objective of this work is to provide genomic insights into the adaptive mechanisms of M. marquandii in heavy metal contaminated environments and to support the exploration of its potential applications in bioremediation. This research is conducted as part of the EU HORIZON BIOSYSMO project, which aims to advance systems biology approaches for microbial communities involved in the detoxification of polluted sites.
