资源简介:
Overseeing of the repair of the facing stonework to Lacock Bridge in Wiltshire was commissioned from Andrew Townsend Architects by Emma Biggs, Assistant Bridge Engineer on behalf of Wiltshire Council. This followed a condition survey carried out by ATA (September 2012), which raised concern about structural movement in the parapet and facing walls of the bridge. Structural engineer, David Evans, Clive Hudson Associates, provided a report (4th May 2013) suggesting inward movement in the north parapet of the bridge appeared to be caused by some form of rotation just below road level. ATA/CHA thus made recommendations to the client for opening up the road surface at the junction with the parapet to assess possible causes of movement. Lacock Bridge is a designated Scheduled Ancient Monument ( SM 28989, HA
1018383) and the proposed repair works required Scheduled Monument Consent. SMC was granted on 5.2.13 (ref S00053530) subject to conditions that included producing a report on the archaeological recording for the County Historic Environment Record and English Heritage, subject to this being 'determined by English Heritage' The investigation of the road surface, described above, and the findings of this exercise are recorded in the report and photographs.
