Lotic Nature Herpetology Database: Species Records of Native Chinese Reptiles and Amphibians

A structured dataset of 717 species records of native Chinese and East Asian reptiles and amphibians, compiled and maintained by the Lotic Nature project (https://loticnature.org). Taxonomic coverage: 232 snakes, 222 anurans, 160 lizards, 77 caudates, 25 turtles, 1 crocodilian. Conservation status follows the IUCN Red List (659 LC, 21 EN, 17 CR, 10 VU, 7 NT, 2 NE, 1 DD). Each record includes the scientific name, multilingual common names (zh/en/es/fr/de/ja), ecological and behavioural notes with temperature ranges and breeding data, geographic distribution, captive-care parameters (diet, enclosure, temperature and humidity gradients), CITES appendix and China national protection listings, and biogeographic region assignments. Records were compiled from publicly available authoritative sources, including The Reptile Database, the IUCN Red List, iNaturalist, and primary herpetological literature.
