Free flaps in burn patients: based on a 12-year retrospective study in a major burn center

From 2012 to 2023, 777 cases of free flap surgery were performed successfully. The top three free flaps were the ALT flap, groin flap, DIEP flap.The limbs were the most repaired parts of the free flap. The analysis of the causes of injury showed that electric burn ranked first. Analyzing the healing of the top three donor flaps, it was found that the proportion of primary suture in the donor area of groin flaps was higher than that of ALT flaps and DIEP flaps, and the skin grafting rate in the donor area of groin flaps was much lower than other flaps. In terms of the survival rate of the flaps, the postoperative assessment of upper limb function, the satisfaction with the repair effect, there was no statistical difference among the top three flaps. Among patients with electrical burns, the number of necrotic free flaps ranks first.
