The study aimed to examine the challenges faced by social studies teachers in implementing global citizenship education within two primary schools in Bangladesh. This study employed a qualitative case study approach, taking into account two elementary schools, one located in an urban area and the other in a rural one. The primary data for this study were acquired through in-depth interviews with four social studies teachers and two head teachers from two schools. Besides, four classroom observations and two focus group sessions with students were administered to gain more clarity. This study analyzed data thematically. This study finds seven core themes: knowledge about GC and GCED, integrating GCED, facilities and infrastructural support, Classroom management and teaching skills, Training and professional development, Assessment of GCED, and a load of tasks. Teachers of two primary schools face challenges in implementing global citizenship education effectively because of the lack of these seven aspects. So, policymakers and school authorities need to focus on solving these challenges to make students appropriate global citizens through social studies.
