We isolated a H. mastomyrinus strain Hm-17 from C57BL/6 mice that were fed a high-fat diet. Subsequent 16s RNA sequencing analysis revealed its distinctiveness from previously reported strains. Our objective was to gain novel insights into the host and habitat specificity of bacterial pathogens, as well as the mechanisms underlying inflammation, by conducting a genomic comparison between H. hepaticus and other Helicobacter species.
