ERC_Cog PROMENADE - WP1: Figurative Archive

The Figurative Archive is a project that aims to collect in a single open-source platform various datasets of metaphors and their properties. Currently (December 2025), the Figurative Archive contains 996 metaphors (divided into the Everyday and Literary modules) in Italian enriched with rating and corpus-based measures (from familiarity to semantic distance and preferred interpretations), derived by collecting stimuli used across 11 studies conducted by members of the NEPLab. The Figurative Archive can also be searched through the dedicated ShinyApp at https://neplab.shinyapps.io/FigurativeArchive/ The Figurative Archive is part of the activities of the ERC Consolidator Grant project PROMENADE (PROcessing MEtaphors: Neurochronometry, Acquisition and DEcay, ID: 101045733), awarded to Prof. Valentina Bambini (University School for Advanced Studies IUSS Pavia, Italy) and funded by the European Research Council.
