Pyrus communis genome sequencing

Here, we generate a fully-phased chromosome-scale genome assembly of P. communis cv. 'd'Anjou', which lays a foundation for genome-assisted breeding in pear. Using this assembly, we readily detect signatures of the whole-genome duplication shared between apple and pear, indicating our assembly's potential for future comparative genomic studies. Our genome will contribute to mechanistic understandings of pear genetics in the future.
