Northern Borneo Orogeny Seismic Survey

The principal objective of the northern Borneo Orogeny Seismic Survey (nBOSS) experiment was to image the crust and the mantle beneath northern Borneo using various seismic imaging techniques—body-wave tomography, receiver functions, shear-wave splitting, to name a few—in order to explore and better understand the post-subduction setting. This was achieved through the deployment of a 46-instrument network across Sabah, which is roughly co-extensive with northern Borneo. The nBOSS network was configured in a regular grid, alternating chequerboard-style between the two instrument models in the pool - the 3ESPCD (100 Hz-60 s) and 6TD (100 Hz-30 s), both of which are broadband seismometers manufactured by Güralp Systems Ltd.
