Our aim was to determine how the addition of compost and inoculation with beneficial endophytes influenced the establishment of microbial communities in polymetallic mine tailings upon the phytoremediation by a heavy-metal tolerant grass Bouteloua curtipendula. 16S rRNA gene and ITS region sequence analysis showed that individually, compost addition or endophyte inoculation significantly influenced the structure of bacterial and fungal communities and increased the bacterial diversity in the mine tailings.
