At the request of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS), the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Louis District (SLD), conducted an assessment of museum property at select National Wildlife Refuges (NWR) in the states of Alaska, Illinois, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, and North Dakota.
SLD identified museum property disciplines at each NWR and provided suggestions and estimates for bringing them into compliance with 36 CFR Part 79 (Curation of Federally-Owned and Administered Archaeological Collections) and 411 DM (Department of Interior Departmental Manual). Each building housing museum property at the NWRs was also assessed to determine its level of compliance with 36 CFR Part 79 and 411 DM.
None of the 12 buildings housing museum property are in full compliance with either 36 CFR Part 79 or 411 DM.
