An imbalance between the oxidative and antioxidant processes in a host can lead to excessive oxidation and potential cellular damage, a condition known as oxidative stress (OS). While research has increasingly linked changes in the hindgut microbiota to OS, the specific microbial and metabolic mechanisms underlying this association remain uncle. The research performed multi-omics to compare the serum metabolite profiles and hindgut microbiota composition of dairy cattle exhibiting higher OS (HOS) and lower OS (LOS).
