Long-read sequencing data (HiFi) of a male Wisent were collected with the aim to generate a de-novo assembly for Bison bonasus. One Wisent bull was deeply sequenced and a primary assembly generated with hifiasm. The sequencing and assembly was done at the Animal Genomics (Prof. Hubert Pausch) group at ETH Zurich. The data have been made public prior to an anticipated publication from our group following the Fort Lauderdale principles, as confirmed in the Toronto Statement (Toronto International Data Release Workshop (Birney et al. 2009)
