Effective strategies to decolonize intestinal carriers of multidrug-resistant bacteria are not yet available. We investigated the use of bacteriophages to decolonize intestinal carriers of the E. coli ST131 lineage. A New Brunswick BioFlo/CelliGen Fermentor was used as a continuous culture system for 48 hrs. Two different pools of feces obtained from volunteers were spiked with a CTX-M-15-producing ST131 E. coli susceptible to bacteriophages and challenged with 3 doses of INTESTI Bacteriophage cocktail.
