The CRISPR/Cas9-induced StNADC-H2-H4 gene mutant cr2-11 exhibited dwarfism and early senescence resulting in plant death, by reducing chlorophyll synthesis and photosynthesis, apart from activating genes related to protein degradation pathways like autophagy and ubiquitination, causing ROS accumulation and DNA damage.
