Establishing an Oryzias latipes ("Medaka") Genetic Reference Panel

To characterise a population of wild caught Southern Japanese ("Kiyosu") Medaka, we performed SNP analysis on eight trios (parents + offspring) using standard trio aware calling tools and estimates both heterozygosity and linkage disequilibrium parameters. For comparison we also sequenced five Medaka inbred strains (including the reference strain Hd-rR) and analysed the levels of variation found in the non-reference strains.
