Microglial P2Y6 Calcium Signaling Promotes Phagocytosis and Shapes Neuroimmune Responses

Bulk RNA-seq evaluation of microglial transcriptomes from the brain of mice with and without general P2Y6 KO three days after systemic kainate status epilepticus. The goal of the study was to determine how the P2Y6 pathway, presumably through its calcium function, shapes microglial transcriptional profiles soon after a brain insult (status epilepticus) that can lead to later epilepsy development. Microglia from the brain (all regions except olfactory bulbs and cerebellum) were flow-sorted (CD11b;CD45) to obtain transcriptome data.
