Letter from the Chairman of East India Company to the Chinese Viceroy (1792)

In the <em>Letter from the Chairman of the East India Company to the Viceroy</em> (1792), the chairman informed the Qing court that Lord Macartney’s embassy would soon set out and asked the locals to receive them well. The letter was initially delivered with a Latin and an English version, and was translated into three Chinese versions, all of which were collected in <em>Magaerni fanghua shiliao huibian </em>马戛尔尼访华史料汇编 [Archives of Lord Macartney’s Embassy to China] (1996, p. 92, 216-217).

在《东印度公司董事长致总督函》（1792年）中，东印度公司董事长向清廷通报，马戛尔尼勋爵率领的使团即将启程，并要求当地予以妥善接待。该函件最初以拉丁文与英文两种文本递送，后被译为三种中文译本，所有译本均收录于《马戛尔尼访华史料汇编》（*Archives of Lord Macartney’s Embassy to China*）（1996年版，第92、216-217页）。
