资源简介:
Methods development as part of this study focuses exclusively on Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit from the Baker Lake Basin in this first year of the program. This phase (one) of the One Voice project has focused on identifying and analyzing the existing sources of documented and available Traditional Knowledge and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit related to the watershed of Baker Lake including that pertaining to water quantity, quality and flow, fish species and fishing livelihoods and other aquatic life. Existing documents describing traditional knowledge assessments of the freshwater environment in the Baker Lake Basin and Hudson Bay ("Voices from the Bay") were reviewed. Interviews with key Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit holders were conducted to document observations of the aquatic environment, and Verify previously documented information with current local experts. Experts will come from Baker Lake including Elders and the Hunters and Trappers Organization. Preliminary methods were developed based on the interviews and the existing documents. Confirmation interviews were conducted with the key Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit holders to make sure we correctly interpreted observations from the first set of interviews and to ask more detailed questions. Final methods were developed to describe the aquatic environment, creating "One Voice" from both Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit and Western Science. (These are reports, "One Voice" and "One Voice Verification Interview Report". There is no data. Complete interview transcripts were given to the Kivalliq Inuit Association (KIA) and are considered proprietary and confidential.)
