Universities, as centers of knowledge and community participation, have the potential to lead programs aimed at empowering women and reducing the gender gap in technology. They can create and implement creative initiatives that address gender inequality and create a more inclusive future for technology by leveraging their academic resources, experience, and collaborative networks. Studies show that technology has revolutionized the fields of education, employment, and society at large. However, due to the many obstacles women face, they have not benefited equally from this technological breakthrough in accessing, using, and influencing the digital world. The 2024 UNESCO Global Education Monitoring Report on Gender emphasizes the need to address complex issues related to gender, education, and technology. These university-based initiatives can include STEM mentoring programs for women, digital literacy workshops, gender equality awareness campaigns in technology, app development programs for women's issues, online safety and anti-cyberbullying training, and tech startup incubators for women. Universities contribute to society by running these programs and providing valuable experiences for their academic communities.
