This study was designed to evaluate the effect Lactobacillus plantarum supplementation has on the composition of the intestinal microbiota in zebrafish. Furthermore, this study examined the effect of chronic unpredictable stress (CUS) on the intestinal microbiota along with interactions that Lactobacillus plantarum may have had. These studies may lead to the use of probiotics such as Lactobacillus plantarum for attenuating stress and downstream effects of stress on the microbiota.
