BAT018 - Batta - Narrative: Children's story ('The mudskipper and the pufferfish')

This dataset contains a naturalistic text in Batta, in which Hans Ferson Sawoy (born 1978), a native speaker of Batta, tells a children's story about a mudskipper and a pufferfish. There is both an audio (wav) and a video (mp4) recording of this session. There are no fieldnotes or transcription files associated with this item. The session was recorded on 18 December 2019, in Yenenas village (Batanta island, Raja Ampat regency, Southwest Papua province, Indonesia). This dataset relates to the British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowship 'Synchronic and diachronic investigations in Raja Ampat-South Halmahera, a little-known subbranch of Austronesian' (PF19\100004); additional fieldwork funds were provided by a Moray Endowment Grant from the University of Edinburgh.
