Enhancing Cancer Pain Management through Clinical Pharmacist Integration for Improved Outcomes: The Case of Nepal in Low and Middle-Income Countries

Cancer patients often experience pain that significantly impacts their quality of life (QoL). Clinical pharmacists have recently been recognized for their role in improving pain management, reducing side effects, providing education, and enhancing adherence to pain medications. However, their involvement in managing cancer pain in Nepal has not yet been studied. This thesis focuses on improving cancer pain care by examining pain characteristics and QoL in patients, reviewing pharmacist-led interventions worldwide, and exploring how clinical pharmacists can be integrated into multi-disciplinary healthcare teams to improve patient outcomes in Nepal.
