Complete genome sequence of Peptostreptococcus porci isolated from pig specimen

The identification and investigation of livestock pathogens is important for biomedical research and the accumulation of agricultural knowledge. Here, we present the complete genome sequence of Peptostreptococcus porci isolated from Japanese porcine endocarditis. This species was newly described in 2021 as a bacterium belonging to the genus Peptostreptococcus from the intestinal flora of pigs. The present strain was isolated from porcine endocarditis in 2010. However, it was kept as an unidentified strain for a long time. This strain was first identified using the MALDI-Biotyper according to the manufacturer's instructions (Bruker, Japan). Strain identity was confirmed by determining the 16S rRNA gene sequence. The whole genome sequence of this strain was determined. Sequencing was performed using a combination of long-read sequencing by Nanopore (Oxford Nanopore Technologies, Tokyo, Japan) and short-read sequencing by DNBSEQ (MGITech Co., Ltd., Shenzhen, China).
