NRS-21713 | Minutes of proceedings [Maitland Land Board]

These registers contain a record of the proceedings of official Board Meetings conducted by the Maitland Land Board which were held by the Maitland Land Board Office.A memorandum inside the front cover of most registers reads: “The following is recommended as a convenient method of entering up the business of the Local Land Board in the Minute Book.” The memorandum then lists what should be entered in the Minute Book and how it should be presented. It makes note that the “Minute Book should be kept carefully entered up and indexed” and that “the Minute Book is a document of the greatest possible importance, and too much care cannot be observed in keeping it.” (1)Some of the information recorded for each case included: the date when the proceedings took place; names of the members of the Board present; heading or designation of the case under investigation, and the names of the parties; the division where the land is situated, the county, parish, number, date and all other particulars necessary to clearly define the case.All volumes contain an alphabetical index by the applicant's surname. In addition, a reference to the land register where the case was recorded is also included.AB353 and AB354 are labelled Chairman in Chambers.AB355 is labelled Chairman's Court.AB352 records the proceedings for the District of Cassilis in 1905. Scattered throughout the rest of the volume are records made of loans to landholders and their repayments for the period 1926-1929 and 1942-1943.
