UV-based mobile phone sanitisation

UV-based mobile phone sanitisers provide an effective solution to mobile phones as fomites. Two (2) commercially-based devices were investigated for their germicidal efficacy of mobile phone sanitisation. Swab samples obtained from mobile phone surfaces before (pre) and after (post-10 minutes) UV sanitisation were collected. The Care Sterilizer M1 Series and BAUHN UV Phone Sanitiser failed to sanitise phones after extended exposure of up to 10 minutes and the colonies present on horse blood agar Petri dishes were investigated via metagenomic analysis.
