This repository contains the necessary scripts, workflows, and supporting materials required to support FAIR principles and ensure the reproducibility of the study entitled “Crustal strain localization and a discrete contractional episode on Venus.” The contents are organized to allow users to reproduce the main analyses, regenerate key results, and follow the methodological steps used in the study in a transparent and accessible manner. Requirements This study uses openly available VenusGIS datasets from Hargitai (2026). The global wrinkle-ridge catalogue is publicly available in Bilotti and Suppe (1999) and derives from Magellan synthetic-aperture-radar mosaics distributed through the NASA Planetary Data System Geosciences Node (PDS Magellan FMAP; Saunders et al., 1992; Pettengill et al., 1991). The global geological map of Venus is from Ivanov and Head (2011). The corona database is the updated global compilation of Gülcher et al. (2025), and the large-volcanic-rise catalogue is from Stofan et al. (1995). The crustal-thickness and effective-elastic-thickness grids are from Jiménez-Díaz et al. (2015). Code Environment The codes use Python >= 3.10 with the following packages: numpy, scipy, pandas, geopandas, shapely, and matplotlib. pip install numpy scipy pandas geopandas shapely matplotlib Pipeline rebuild.py -- spatial join of Bilotti & Suppe (1999) wrinkle ridges against Ivanov & Head (2011) units; writes data/wr_table.csv and data/stats.json spacing.py -- moving-window perpendicular-spacing estimator; writes data/spacing_field.csv and data/localization.json features.py -- corona/volcanic-rise distance and circumferential-angle statistics using the Gülcher et al. (2025) database; writes data/features.npz / .json crustal_correlation.py -- bilinear sampling of the Jiménez-Díaz et al. (2015) crustal- and elastic-thickness model at each moving-window centre; updates data/spacing_field.csv with tc, te columns strength.py -- integrated brittle strength and yield-strength-envelope calculation (BDT depth vs heat flow) moll.py -- Mollweide projection and graticule helper, imported by the figure scripts. Reproducing After placing the source data in the expected layout, as described in the Open Research statement of the main manuscript, the full chain runs in order: python rebuild.py python spacing.py python features.py python crustal_correlation.py Total runtime on a recent laptop is about 10 minutes.
