Successive Instructions to Clerk of Courts established a responsibility to maintain various books of account. The key record appears to have been the Register of Accounts in which was to "...be entered full particulars of every official account relating either to revenue or expenditure transmitted by the clerk of court to any department of the Government." Details records in the Register of Accounts included number of account, period of service, name and place of claimant, description of claim, amount, to whom forwarded, account received, date and remarks.
