Amplicon sequencing of the skin and gut microbiome of Spalax Leucodon

The blind mole-rat (Spalax leucodon) has extraordinary experimental features characterized by long lifespan, tolerance to hypoxia and hypercapnia, as well as cancer resistance, which positions it as an exceptional model organism. Several omics-based studies have been performed to understand some of those unique features. We present here the first dataset pertaining to the microbiome of the gut and skin samples of this animal, facilitating the usage of Spalax as a fruitful model in the fields of cancer and aging.
